Support is growing for the Electronic Cigarette as more health officials and anti smoking advocates are getting on board with the device. Electronic Cigarettes help smokers get the nicotine that their body requires without the harmful effects of smoking. The electronic devices are designed to provide nicotine, tobacco flavour and the psychological effect of smoking while helping the smoker wean themselves off cigarettes. Sales are growing at a rate of 300% per month in the U.S. while other parts of the world are following close behind. A study in South Africa noted that as many as 45% of smokers are successful with quitting when they use the device. South Africa, like the UK has not restricted the use of this product and it is paying off with more customers feeling better and successfully getting off the Electronic Cigarettes. Some anti-smoking advocates oppose the device because it encourages the same behaviour as cigarette smoking, but the UK and South Africa have not bowed to the pressure from these groups. And that has proven to be a wise move according to public health officials. An October news report in the UK noted that nicotine is safe and the e-cigarette delivers nicotine to smokers without the toxic ingredients that are found in tobacco smoke. The product also controls the number of second hand smoke exposure cases. This allows the product to be used indoors where others will not be bothered by cigarette smoke. As word gets out about the innovative device, it is expected that sales will continue to rise on the popular anti smoking device. The product holds a lot of promise for folks who find the psychological aspect of smoking a difficult hurdle to jump.
